Eri Ishi
Bridge
44” x 44”, oil on canvas
I would like to submit "Bridge" as an interpretation of self-portrait. The piece depicts a moment suspended in time where a lone figure stands on a bridge. It is a private and intimate moment that the viewers are invited into, and it reflects how I feel about myself in relation to the world. I work in solitude in my studio where the time passes slowly and there is only myself and the painting. The buttery texture of oil paint creates a tactile surface that resonates with the content of the painting.
