‘Of the moment’ -My letter to Mother Earth
My Dearest Mother Earth,
This is Falguni, one little child of your many many children, all unique to you! You know perhaps more than we do, that the whole world is facing great problems because of Pandemic Covid-19. Everyone's life has changed drastically. So has mine. Now a days, everyday I get up and listen to some sad news. It leaves me with so much empathy and uncomfortable feelings. One month back while I was gardening I looked at a tree trunk, cut down so thoughtlessly, a few days back. It was lying down there, helplessly and looked very dead. But as I looked closely at it, I saw to my great surprise that the dead looking tree had given birth to some fresh leaves! Oh, Mother Earth, to me this was a big sign of hope and joy! I thanked you from all my heart for this miracle, Dear Mother of both the tree and me!
Mother Earth, I want to whisper something in your ears! During the long period of recent lock down, I could get some moments of leisure that I rarely get otherwise and I cherished them! I was inspired to nourish plants, listen to the bird sing so sweetly, watch the birds fly, observe leaves and the flowers and much more. Frankly, I had just forgotten to do any of this, all these years, while doing the routine things. It is such a pleasure to wonder like a kid but I had forgotten that. I enjoyed the touch of soil while planting a plant, I learnt to talk to them, I started observing them for a long time! Vow, even meditating on them and on you! All this was thanks to this leisure time, Mother Earth.
It is not a good time but I have learnt to see the bright side of an otherwise very dark picture. The bright side is this, Mother: I am loving to witness the growth of plants, chirping of birds, beautiful sky, and You!
I hope such positive thoughts help me and all the people of our World in this difficult times.
Love you Mother!
Your’s Falguni
