Brian McConville
This photograph is titled “Working from Home 2020”. It is a composite of photographs I’ve taken over the past few weeks, during the COVID-19 pandemic. I wanted to create an image of “the new normal” – of people bringing their work lives into the home, but also of people taking the time to hit pause and take notice of the world around them.
The house is one up the street from where I live. The lone figure sitting in the field was taken on the Great Lawn at Van Dusen Gardens a couple of weeks ago.
Brian McConville was born and raised in Vancouver, where he completed a multimedia program at the Vancouver Film School in 1996. He has worked in the digital media industry ever since. McConville has contributed works to support several local organizations. He was also recently commissioned to produce six photographs for a commercial space. His passion is night photography - capturing Vancouver neighbourhoods when most law-abiding people are at home and in bed.
