Gregory Coyes
I met Gregory Coyes in 2008 at the Roots and Blues festival in Salmon Arm, BC. We hung out at the Media tent where he told me he played collegiate hockey and graduated from Yale. We are friends to this day. At the time he was regular on TV, hosting a weekly show called The Mix, featuring first nations musician. It was a slick and good looking show on the Aptn network. Greg is a film and television producer, founder of the Slow Media community which explores the Indigenous sense of cinematic time, and teaches at Vancouver’s Capilano Universtiy.
Chantal Deeble
I met Chantal Deeble sometime in the early 90’s in Vancouver and I remember her telling me her dream was to move to New York City and dance for STREB. Twenty some years later, Chantal is a veteran of the pop-action dance company, and it was through superpower artist, Elizabeth Streb herself, that she met her now husband. Chantal lives in New York still, with her husband and beautiful daughter, and is the Owner and Studio Director of Kinespirit Studios, specializing in Pilates and Gyrotonic exercise, with locations in the Upper West Side of Manhattan and in the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon.
Ashley Justin
I met Ashley Justin in 2017 at the Armory Art Show in New York and quickly discovered we share a love of Costa Rica, and the little Yoga/ Surf community of Nosara. Ashley is a philanthropist, and an avid collector of work by emerging artists. She splits her time between Tribeca, in Manhattan, and the agricultural community of Circleville, New York. In addition to advocating for the Arts, Ashley is a supporter Cornel University’s Agricultural Department, the 4H community of upstate New York and WINGS Worldquest, a funder of women in science and innovation.
Kristin Lim
I met Kristin Lim in 2013 at the Western Front Art Auction in Vancouver where she encouraged me to bid on a piece by Neil Beloufa. Before I knew it, the art was mine. she has emailed me news of the Beloufa’s skyrocketing career and I have trusted her opinion on art ever since. A graduate of Sotheby’s MFA program in London, Kristin is the Arts Coordinator for Arts Umbrella’s Splash Auction and Gala, the largest art auction in Vancouver. She also writes about art for publications in Vancouver and the West Coast and is an accomplished piano teacher.
