Skye Miranda

I am a multimedia artist. Through hand-made sets, costumes, installations, and digital manipulation, my work blurs the line between truth and obfuscation, calling into question the distinction between fantasy and reality.

My work tends to center around my own body, and increasingly features others. Coming from a history of religious trauma, abuse, and chronic pain; I explore my relationship to my body and spiritual ideas with a sense of liberation. Influenced by fairy tales, mythology, drag performers, queer sex education, ecosexuality and esoteric imagery, my work offers narratives of healing that come from an increased connection with community and the cosmos.

BIO

Skye Carter was born in Alexandria, VA and currently lives and works in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2014.

Skye’s exhibitions include those held at the The Wall Space gallery in Glasgow, UK and Cold Coffee Gallery in Royal Oak, MI. Her sex education performance art was ​featured in the Philadelphia Weekly. She has taught online spiritual art workshops to 30 people in Argentina, Germany, The United States, and more.
