Chloe Hurst

My artwork post-epoch was produced within the first UK coronavirus lockdown this year.

post-epoch is my response to the project - Imaginative Gardens a curatorial project created by @theiiplatform which concluded in September 2020 with a one-day public exhibition at Richmond Park, UK. The piece explores how public parks have become an escapism paradigm for the pandemic. A non-place, a nameless and faceless multitude whereby anyone can feel ‘at home’ because, as a transitional environment, they are equally alienating to everyone. Using image stills captured via Google Earth of Richmond Park, I’ve created a displacement of perspective, presenting a new virtual normality with a disembodied and remote-control gaze.

Chloë Hurst is a visual artist based in London. Her practice is interdisciplinary, with inclusion of but not limited to sculpture, installation and digital art. In an attempt to show viewers the powerful reciprocal nature of vision, she presents a digitally mirrored, real-time spectacle. Recent work has created a dialogue surrounding materiality, and social presence, by streaming real-time, live videos within sculptural installations, produced with everyday, found materials. Hurst is the founder of Articulate a spoken word evening which originated in Bermondsey, London. In early 2020 she took part in a collaborative 6-week artist residency at One Paved Court, Richmond.

She holds an MA in Art & Space from Kingston Univeristy and BA Hons in Fine Art from Cambridge School of Art.
